March 2, 2023/News

The Board of Directors of the Baseball Reliquary is pleased to announce that Michael Fallon will deliver the Keynote Address at the Shrine of the Eternals Induction Day on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at the Donald R. Wright Auditorium in the Pasadena Central Library, Pasadena, California. The festivities will include the induction of the 2016 class of electees to the Shrine of the Eternals (Don Newcombe, Bo Jackson, and Arnold Hano), and the presentation of the 2016 Hilda Award and 2016 Tony Salin Memorial Award.

MICHAEL FALLON is a writer based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.  Since 1997, he has published hundreds of reviews, feature articles, essays, and profiles on all sorts of subjects, including art, Southern California, baseball, music, food, American social and cultural history, and more.  He is the author of the book Dodgerland: Decadent Los Angeles and the 1977-78 Dodgers (University of Nebraska Press, 2016) and Creating the Future: Art and Los Angeles in the 1970s (Counterpoint Press, 2014).

Fallon was born and grew up in the quiet, suburban foothills of Southern California in the 1970s and ‘80s.  He studied art at UC Berkeley and in the graduate program in art at Cal State Fullerton, and completed a master’s degree in Arts Management at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where he spearheaded a comprehensive study of the nation’s aging artists.  Fallon received national attention for his now-defunct blog about the struggles of artists, the Chronicle of Artistic Failure in America.  His current blog – Pacific Ocean Blue: Tales of L.A.’s Past / Tales of L.A. Today – focuses on the art and culture of Southern California over the past century.
